Perfect MIDI Wireless System

Yes - this is really perfect MIDI Wireless system. More of 2 years Juzisound work on way to create best possible MIDI Wireless system, specially created for use from professionalist in LIFE situations. Long range, low latency, no MIDI errors, many additional functions. All this is available on this system.

Long Range

This Wireless MIDI system operates on free band 2.4GHz, and use maximum allowed power for this band. In outdoor place typycally range is around 250 meters. You really need this long range? Evcouse NO, becouse speed of sound on air is very slow, and if you play very far from PA system, acoustic latency will be very high. As a result, You can not play synchronized with other musicians on stage. But in real world, wireless range dependent from many another factor, like wals positions and matterials, interferences with another electronical devices and many more. Because it is best to always have maximum allowed power to be able to rely on perfect real-usable range. In all real places, this wireless MIDI system have quaranted real range >100 meters.

Low MIDI Latency

MIDI interface protocol is not designed to be wireless. Any lost or corrupt on MIDI information, is not acceptable, and possible to make great damage of final result. When MIDI signal is sended wirelessly, wireless system need to realize special algorithm for error detection and error correction. This required to add same service information to original MIDI signal, and move sending process from low-level byte by byte transfer to high-level MIDI EVENT oriented transfer, with strong error detection and error correction. Applyng of error detection and correction need more intensive calculation, and adding additional data to original MIDI signal. Аs a side result of this is increasing averal system latency.
After 2 years of reserach, Juzisound resolve all this problems with original new technology with name W.E.F.M.S. (Wireless Error Free MIDI Stream).
Result of this technology is absolutly error free MIDI stream with lowest possible MIDI latency. Total latency trought all system (from Transmitter MIDI IN to Receiver MIDI OUT) is only 1.300 millisecconds!!! How this is calculated?

For all MIDI wireless systems, MIDI latency is very important parameter. Many manufacturer not publish this parameters correctly!
We try to explain how MIDI system work, and what exact is happedn when user play note on one device, and this note is transferred and played from another MIDI device.
In MIDI system, for one MIDI event need to transfer 3 bytes. Transfer of every one byte need 320 microsecconds. Device whu receive MIDI data, not make any reaction, until not receive all these 3 bytes and until know complete MIDI messasage. Please be careful about the exact moment that it all began. This is the moment, that the master MIDI device knows about pressed note. This momment is start point of all subsequent latency calculatons.
Again, what is happend when user play note:
Immediate when master MIDI device detect pressed note, this device start MIDI comunication.
1. Master device send byte 1. It lasts 320 milisecconds to transfer to slave device. Slave device not react. Only receive this byte, and wait for next byte.
2. Master device send byte 2. It lasts another 320 milisecconds. Slave device not react again. Only receive this byte, and wait for next byte.
3. Master device send byte 3. It lasts another 320 milisecconds. Slave device receive byte 3, forming complete MIDI message, and start playng procedure to play received note.
With real MIDI cable, this process need minimum 3 x 320 microsecconds, and total latency from momment when master device know about pressed note, and momment when slave device start to play this note is minimum 960 microsecconds!
Now, what is happend when you use Juzisound MIDI Wireless system:
1. Juzisound Wireless Transmitter is equvivalend of slave MIDI device. Transmitter wait to collect all 3 bytes of complete MIDI message. For this need 3 x 320 microsecconds. Total 960 microecconds.
2. Then transmitter start procedure to prepare wireless packet. In this packet included received bytes + same service information, like timing, check sums and many more. When wireless packet is ready, this packed is sended to Receiver. All procedure of packet preparation and sending include all confirmation and error checking and corrections attemp maximum 340 microsecconds. After this time period, Receiver know all about received note, and starting to send first byte of this note to self MIDI out. 3. After another period of 960 milisecconds, note will be transferred from Receiver to slave sound module, and sound module start playng procedure.

What is conclusion of all this:
1. Transferring of one note trought real MIDI cable need 960 microsecconds. (3 x 320 microsecconds).
2. Transferring of the same note with Juzisound MIDI Wireless System need 2 260 microsecconds.
- 960 ms for Master to Transmitter with MIDI cable;
- 340 ms from Transmitter to Receiver over AIR; Note: Many manufacturer publish only this parameter like latency of overal system. This is not very correct!
- Another 960 ms from Receiver MIDI out to slave sound module trought seccond MIDI cable.
3. Then difference between using of real MIDI cable and using Juzisound MIDI Wireless system is: 2260ms(total wireless latency) - 960ms(real midi cable latency) = 1300 microsecconds.
Final:
Total latency when using Juzisound MIDI Wireless System compared with real MIDI cable is only 1.300 millisecconds more from real MIDI cable!!! User sensitive this like real MIDI cable!
Note: Speed of sound is very slow: 343.2 metres per second. When use Juzisound MIDI WIreless System, this is equal to adding only 0.45 meters to real distance to you PA system.

Additional function on Receiver:

Receiver is not only receiver! This is powerful MIDI mixer too!
This device have 3 input MIDI ports, and one output MIDI port. Two of inputs MIDI ports are standart phisical MIDI inputs on 5 pin DIN connector, available on back side on the device. (MIDI IN1 and MIDI IN2) Third MIDI input is internal, and from this internal input coming MIDI data received from RADIO channel.
Every of these 3 MIDI input ports have independent TRANSPOSE function with transpose range of +/- 4 octaves.
Incoming signal of these input ports, are switched or mixed together, and result is send to MIDI output port, available on bank pannel. Output MIDI port is on standart 5 pin DIN connector too, for easy connecting of standart MIDI cables.
How internal receiver mixer function work?

Possible 2 user sellectable mixing combinations:
- MIDI IN1 + MIDI IN2 (incoming MIDI signals from MIDI IN1 is mixed with incoming MIDI signal from MIDI IN2. Incoming MIDI signal from RADIO input is OFF).
- MIDI IN1 + RADIO IN (incoming MIDI signals from MIDI IN1 is mixed with incoming MIDI signal from RADIO channel. Incoming MIDI signal from MIDI IN2 is OFF).
Switch between mixing combinations is made easy with small button on face of device, and have LED indication for current sellected mode. Switching is MIDI error free. No freezed notes or any another MIDI problems, when switch between different mixed MIDI streams.
About TRANSPOSE!
Receiver have additional TRANSPOSE function, independent for every one input MIDI stream. (MIDI IN1, MIDI IN2 and RADIO IN).
Transpose range is +/- 4 octaves for every MIDI stream. (+/- 12, 24, 36 or 48 semitones or +/-1,2,3 or 4 octaves). Transpose settinfgs are memorized and not need to change every time when power on device. With this powerfull MIDI mixing functions possible to connect one standart keyboard + seccond standart keyboard + one wireless keyboard to only one MIDI device, and play on all these instruments without need to change phisical connection of midi cables. For example, possible to connect KORG PA + Casio CZ + another wireless keyboard to only one Juzisound Total SOLO Sampler, and play on all without change MIDI cable connection.

Additional function on Transmitter:

Analog to MIDI converter.
Transmitter have one analog input, and possible to priduce many types of MIDI messages from this analog input. MIDI messages are produced by one 2 or 3 MIDI channels simultaneously. Produced type of messages are: CC2, CC7, CC11, CC74, CC11+74, CC11+74 with center 64, AT, PB. For all messages have all important settings like OFFSET, DEATH ZONE, GAIN, CURVES. Detayled dysplay information available, when make settings.
Generation of MIDI messages from analog sources and mixing of these midi signals with original incoming MIDI signal is made careful and inteligent. Production of MIDI signal from analog sources do not disturb original incoming MIDI signal, and dont add latency or jutter to original MIDI stream. Incoming MIDI signal olvays have HIGH priority.
MIDI Controller
Transmitter have additional function to produce MASTER VOLUME or PG Change messages if need. This functions are very usseful for keyboards, whu not have this controls on board. Master volume is produced by CC11, CC7 or SYSEX messages. User sellectable. Program Change are send with bank controllers CC0 and CC32 equal to 0 + Program Change Message from 00 to 99. For both function have detailed dysplay information, in momment when make changes.

Batteries for Transmitter:

Transmitter work with 2 standart AA size batteries. (Not included!) Accept both standart or rechardables batteries. Batteries are plugged in special socket on back side of device. Battery life is more of 45-50 hours with full MIDI load and connected Juzisound breath controller headset.
Transmitter have integrated battery level indicator, with 2 different settings for alcaline or rechardables types of batteries. Current battery level is olways ìndicated with blue LED on top pannel of device, and additional very detailed level in percentages are available in battery menu.

Upgradable Firmware:

Both Transmitter and Receiver have function for Firmware Update trought standart MIDI input. (For Receiver update is made only with MIDI IN 1). Free Windows software toool for firwmare updatie is available on Downloads/Support tab. To make update you need computer with Windows OS, and MIDI interface with one available MIDI OUT.
